Strangely, or perhaps not, the path of fashion designing did not cross with that of Belinda until she passed her 27th birthday. Brimming with passion, she launched her eponymous label in late 2009 with the Spring Summer 2010 collection. Understanding how well-proportioned and well-fitting clothes improve the comfort, confidence and overall appearance of the wearer, Belinda decided to design for the label on a custom-made basis with fit and personalization as priorities in the label’s philosophy.
Influenced by the femininity of early 20th century’s vintage, Belinda’s collections feature an abundance of colours, prints and laces, emanating old-world charm and at the same time, modern sophistication. She experiments extensively with textures, colours and lines to create distinctive occasion and evening pieces, many of which are designed to carry the wearer effortlessly from day to evening.
Being a hands-on designer, Belinda is adept in the art of pattern drafting, garment construction and embellishment detailing. She holds a Bachelor Degree in environmental engineering, although creative art has remained her penchant ever since high school from where she graduated with a distinction in Higher Art.
