Belinda Ang Studio Introduces the New “Simple Pleasures” Collection
Fashion Designer, Belinda Ang introduces her new collection of occasion and evening wear titled “Simple Pleasures”. The new collection reiterates the label’s design philosophy of customized fit and personalization with 12 exquisite designs that are at once contemporary and classic.
The collection was inspired by the simple pleasures of life – enjoying the water by the pool, setting the dining table for a party, lounging in the living room, dolling up in preparation for a gala dinner. “The idea of comfort and effortless chic is key in this collection,” says the designer. “It is all about the little joys a woman finds in life and translating them into the clothes she wears on a daily or frequent basis.”
The silhouettes in this collection are slim, highlighting the classic allure of the cinched waist. Ruches, folds and pleats add volume and texture to the hour-glass shape, which is often accessorized with charming ribbon-adorned belts. Materials such as washed silk charmeuse and silk chiffon outline and enhance the movement of the body, while wool-blend, silk dupioni and silk organza create a more constructed shape.
The evening gowns seduce with asymmetric necklines, figure-flattering shapes, bold lace cut-outs and thigh high slits. Bridal wear takes the form of a sassy lace-overlaid mini gown, made extravagant by its long dreamy chiffon sashes and train. Jumpsuits continue to be a key feature in the Belinda Ang collections and present a perfect blend of masculinity and femininity with tailored trousers contrasted against the softness of washed silk and Chantilly lace. Colours in the collection - A basic palette of warm white, cool blue, grey and black, softened with neutrals such as sand brown and olive green. Materials used - Silk charmeuse, silk twill, silk chiffon, wool-blend, silk dupioni, satin, silk organza and French lace.
